House with courtyard-with basin-used for recycling rain water : #0602

Open towards the south direction, this house has as C shape that encloses a courtyard.

The east- facing large spinning wooden door opens into courtyard which is in front of the main entrance to the house. The roof top garden is located in the isolated Japanese room. The large and the small courtyard, the illuminated garden, the spot garden, the inner garden and the sky garden are created to link with the outside space.

The glass door in the large opening slides into the wall and thus combines the open space with the inside living and dining areas.

The rain water in the sky garden goes through the watershoot and drops into the millstone of the illuminated garden in front of the Japanese room and spills over into the basin in the courtyard.

The basin continuing from the courtyard is 3mx3m and only 5cm depth so whenever it rains, the water will circulate. By opening and closing the large wooden door, linking or closing off the inside courtyard with the outside street, the character of the space in the courtyard can be adjusted.

Ecologically sound by recycling rain water, maintaining a tranquil privacy while also offering a flexibility of possibilities in the opening and closing of the courtyard, this house exudes a unique, calm and comfortable character.
